Out of nowhere a track emerged in snow breaking ice and a way was marked for the two to walk in the bitter cold of a slow December night. The trees that lined their path looked on; bent slightly, and prayed for warmth and a little light. There was none to keep a watch, and none to show them the way home. On a slow December night those who venture in the cold have a single thought that hastens them, the thought of reaching home.
