Retreat

  Superb! Rodin took the art of chiselling to another level : the level of poetry and mysticism. He goes beyond romantic statements on beauty. His sculptures bring to life all of the human existence that lies between agony and ecstasy. I like the way he leaves part of the stone unchiselled, pointing to the surreal quality of the agony, raw, before the chisel gives it a shape and form.
