From Old Bombay

Very serene and beautiful. I have never found greater calm and serenity than here at Mount Mary church. A heavenly place. As you climbed a narrow road from the Bandstand to reach the church, at the top of the road you would be greeted by a small cottage. The board at its gate bore the name of the cottage written on it: 'At Last' It is no longer there.

  • Yes. Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I don't have the photo of the cottage. The owner must have chosen the place and the name of the cottage with great sense of fulfilment. After climbing the slope reaching that heavenly spot, "At Last". The cottage was hidden behind trees and a wall. In all those years I couldn't get a glimpse of it. I have written a poem on the owner and that hidden house. It still lives in my imagination. Thanks for the "road".❤ Can you by some way send it to me?

sure, I will send you the pic on messenger. Sadly the old bungalow seems to have been replaced by slums now, and the road itself (with the historic steps) is in bad shape.
Late in 2019 I got the road cleant up with the help of the local authorities. Sadly, it didn’t stay that way too long. Here is the article about it (with my pic), published in the
    Bandra Buzz newspaper
    , Nov 2019.
